Error Codes C0300, P1525, P1526 & P1550

Morning All!

My Peevee is a little bugger... he keeps conkin' out! I've put a diagnosis kit on it and reset it a few times to see if the error codes are consistent and they are.... So the error codes are:

C0300 - Right Front TCS Solenoid / Meter #1 Circuit Malfunction

P1525 - Engine Throttle System [ETS] - limp home position malfunction

P1526 - Electronic Throttle System [ETS] - Adaptation - Malfunction

P1550 - Electronic Throttle System [ETS] - in emergency mode

What i've learned is that C = chassis and P = powertrain and i'm guessing that TCS stands for traction control system. So I'm also guessing that perhaps the C0300 could be an earthing error on the chassis relating to the traction control system? Has anyone had this code before? Am I wrong / right etc? On HonestJohn's website they've listed "sounds a bit late now but the O/S/R sensor runs the ABS/TCS, speedo & crusie & 2 stage PAS. Looms used to fail under the back seat. I have replaced modules due to heat damage / and or corrosion but a live data test is best first." does anyone know if this sounds likely??

As for the 'P' codes... again I'm guessing here... could it be either an accellerator sensor, the actual throttle body itself or the cars ecu?

Are there actual sensors on the throttle body that can be replaced?

Is there actually a seperate sensor on the accelerator?

I had my mechanic check the throttle body to ensure it was clean and all mechanical parts moved as they should and he said when he inspected it the throttle body was spotless and all moved as it should... hence why i'm wondering if there's a sensor for it?

Any and all help would be appreciated folks... like any 'new' car that's 2nd hand you never know it till you own it and this dam thing is breaking down every 30-50 miles on some occassions [three times in the last 2 days] and then on other occassions it'll run for 600 miles before its next breakdown.

What code reader did you use? Which systems were read? Just engine ECU?

I'm thinking along the lines of that being a P0300 - multi cylinder misfire...

Hi all

thanks for your replies.... I'm using Gendan's VauxCheck and Engine Check software that came up with all the codes listed. The VauxCheck didn't come up with the C0300 code but the Engine Check did along with all the P codes....

Another thing to mention that I forgot earlier is that when driving I'm now noticing that the car is hunting for gears, particularly between 50-60mph... it doesn't know what gear it wants to be in.

In looking at Vauxhall diagrams, all three codes are pointing to the throttle system and not the cam sensor and I'm thinking that if the throttle sensor isn't sending the right signal, then that'd also explain the reason why the car is now hunting for gears... so another question I have is does anyone know if it's possible to buy a throttle position sensor on its own or would i have to buy a the whole throttle system?

Given someone mentioned the cam sensor... could you please explain further how that could throw up the symptoms explained here? I'm really interested in learning more about this so any additional light you could shed would be great.

Thanks for that. I've had a look at both of them. Well I say look... it appears to me that whilst it's possible to look at the TPS connector on the throttle body itself, the actual sensor is inside the throttle body. Am I right in thinking this? If not I cant see a way to take the front cover off the throttle body to have look at the actual sensor... if this is the case, does it mean that if the TPS on the throttle body has become knackered, it's a new TB rather than just being able to buy the TPS? The engine, is the Z22XE

I also had a look at the connector on the cylindrical [sensor?] item at the top of the throttle pedal and whilst the connector position can be moved quiet easily fore and aft along with side to side, the connection itself appears tight and the wires all look spot on - i.e. no frays etc...

Yep, sensor is all in one with throttle body..........and you don`t really wanna know the cost of a new one

Mine never does Grin

At idle mine shows TP of 6 Grin

DBW petrol engines are generally reasonably close. Certainly close enough to be able to condem one Thumbs Up!

When the error codes come up, there is no throttle control at all. The engine just and I mean only just ticks over and sounds like a wet fart on loudspeaker. You can press the throttle all you like and get absolutely no response... When you clear the error codes, the engine runs sweetly and the throttle is absolutely fine. The only obersvation I've notices is that once the car starts hunting for gears, within the next few times I start the car I can almost always guarantee the same error codes will come up and the symptoms described will reappear.
