Title: Central locking not working
Post by colin33 on 16. Dec 2009 at 18:58
Help - my central locking does not work.  I can open the drivers door with the key and passenger door by pulling up the door lock button, but both rear doors are locked and their buttons will not move.

I have changed the motors in both front doors but no change.

The alarm still sets/unsets with the key, and when I lock the drivers door with the key the alarm is set.

The tailgate will also open with the key but the petrol flap is locked and I have to trip this manually.

Anyone suggest what to try?  Is it the central locking control unit? If so where is this located, and how can I tell if it is faulty?  Is there anything else in the system to look at (relays, connectors, etc)?

Colin

No-one brave enough to pick up and answer this problem?  Here's hoping...

The next step in the trail to the problem - I checked the fuses and found fuse number 20 was u/s.  I have replaced this but with no change to the locking system.

Thing is - apart from the central locking I couldn't identify anything not working, so what does this fuse supply?  The Omega user manual says - Central locking system, courtesy lamp, door lights, and heated seats - but all of these have been and are still working - even with the broken fuse in place.  In fact I have removed fuse 20 completely and all the other items still work - only the c/l doesn't!

Makes me think there may be a wiring fault with broken wire(s) stopping the c/l working and back feeding the other items.

Any comments/suggestions if this is the case, and where to look?

Colin.

check the central locking ecu as sounds like it is not working, if you open one door with the key all doors should open if not it would be down to the central locking, if have a tec 2 or some one near you had would check it out.

Thanks Rusty,

Is it worth getting one of the cheap tech2's off ebay? Do they really work?  I assume they link into my laptop and run the diagnostic software there?

Colin.

yeah a cheap op-com will let you look at the ecu's and find the fault, if it dose not find the ecu then there is a fault with the unit. but the op-com are easy to use. and they read engine when running as well. nice to keep just in case somthing gose wrong again and will reset ecu's.:y
