Spent a few more hours today stripping down to change the oil cooler (Its turning into a big job).
Everything was going swimmingly until I went to remove the oil filter. I think it must have a genuine Vx one on. I've never seen one of these before.
I unscrewed the end and took out the filter part, but the filter housing would not come off. I could see a allen key slot inside the housing - is this some kind of locking nut? What size?
If anyone could tell me how to get the damn thing off I would be grateful, or at least advise me on what size allen key to buy.
Is there anything worse than starting a job and not having the tools to do something!!!
Cheers
If I've understood you properly & you've removed the filter, then you've done it
What tends to happen is that the ally housing gets torqued up to silly lbs/ft and the base starts to turn aswell when you try to undo it. it should only be 15(?)Nm which is little more than being nipped up.
