Title: Horse box
Post by rob114 on 20. Jul 2006 at 16:44
Any of you guys tow a horse box with the meega? Just that this Sat want to take two horses in a trailer to beach for wifey. They are not massive horses - about 14 hands high.

Have a chunky tow bar & 3.0 MV6

Any thoughts?

My mums was around 1 Ton, most horses tend to be around that.

Always been my argument about getting a motorbike, she had a horse that weight about 1 ton, does 30 mph flat out and has no brakes, but can i have a motorbike...NO!  ;D

99.9p a litre!!!! There's something to be said for living in the grim north, its 93.9p in our local ASDA.
And were not short of a drop of water up here either.....think I'll just go and put my sprinklers on full...for a day or two ;D

Asda have a national price, currently 93.9p

Alas, Brackley, being in the arse end of nowhere, only has a Tescos and a BP.  Hence 99.9p  >:(

I plan to work around Brackey area after uni, maybe Northampton or Milton Keynes. Soon as i start earning and do a larger millage LPG is a serious  thought, its 49p a litre at the BP Garage here. And its usefull having a LPG garage so close.

Well I would not put more than 1.5 ton behind the car for legal reasons, maybe 1.75 but no more

The worry is if they start taxing lpg more....

My mates Dad has a filler so he can use the orange propane tanks to fill.  Souldn't be hard to make/get.

Also out of interest, when I lived in Mexico, I've seen lot of mopeds with the camping Gaz bottles bungeed on the back seat, as well as some cars which strapped the propane tanks on the roof - 3 tanks could get you over 1000 miles without taking up any boot space!  A good idea untill you crash.

Well, took the trailer out for a test run today-beach tomorrow!! Must say the meega is a beauty to tow with - trailer is a double axle 2 horse trailer.Didn't feel it pushing me down gradients etc.  To horrify MV6 owners - will post a pic with trailer complete with horses !!

Thats probably why they dont.....coz they carnt see where they are going!

Thats what makes people seasick....they can see the horizon or the what evers out the window....which appears to stay still....but the movement of the boat isnt still.....so confusing messages to the brain.....eyes say still....body says moving.....result...not good.
If you do suffer with seasickness its best to find somewhere inside the boat with no windows!!

I however dont get seasick......and in rough weather....always make for the restaurant......its usually empty.....order a cooked breakfast....you usually get loads as they carnt get rid of it.....tho can be tricky sometimes stopping the plate sliding of the table  ;D

I tow a rather large boat ( over 1.5 tons fully loaded with equipment lunch box etc )behind my 2.5 and it tow like a dream. I notice from your post that you take your horses to the beach. I have to tow across the beach to access  my launch site, and have found (if yours is an auto also)the snow setting on the gearbox very useful to prevent the rear wheels digging in when setting off
