I seem to remember Mark mentioning about greasing up the brake pipes.

Seems like a good idea, but wouldn't some idiot at the MOT say "Brake pipes are leaking - failed the MOT"

Not unless he was a complete w****r. Even a Vx 'technician' should be able to tell the difference between brake fluid and grease.

Something I have always done.....brake pipes, nuts, bolts, linkages.....

Does it work?, well the Nova had all its original brake pipes, handbrake cables etc......at 17 years of age!

grease or waxoyl work very well.

Right - out comes the trolley jack and axle stands.

I was told by an MOT tester few years back, that greasing pipes etc keeps them in good order, stops corrosion.  Done it ever since, never had a problem at MOT time

Its very good practice and something that old school mechnics always do (not these modern scally wags!).

I usualy use waxoyl now as I have found it to be much more searching (realy gets into the fixings and helps them to free off if required in the future), easier to apply and its rust killing properties are much better.

Should I get a waxing kit, or just a spray can, or a 5ltr drum?

Where's the best place to buy and how much should I expect to pay?
