Title: DIS Pack Post by cipher on 31. Jul 2006 at 13:33
Well,
I got my DIS pack. Just need to fit it now, any ideas what tools i need, as I have a feeling that it going to be held on with the E-Torx bolts that Vx seem to favor. I understand the practicalities of them for automotive specific torque applications, but they are pain, especially when I dont have any E-Torx sockets! |

Laser Tools have something interesting called Alldrive, which is supposed to fit both hex and Torx bolts, e.g.:
This seem to make sense - assuming it actually works. Has anyone tried it? The full Alldrive product catalogue can be found at: http://www.lasertools.co.uk/tools.aspx?cat=247 |

same here, and the alldrive sockets are not that good on E-Torx, tehy seem to chew the bolt head up

Hmmm... good to know. I bought two separate Draper Expert sets before I heard of the Alldrive, so now I know I didn't miss out on anything...

I asked about them at my local trade parts counter, and was told they have sold about 50 sets, and nearly all have been returned as they are great on standard bolts, but garbage on anything else.

Hopefully you are referring to Laser Alldrive, not Draper Expert ? :-?

Yes,
Draper make good tools. The laser alldrive are being returned. Although, some laser tools are very good. I have a long reach plug spanner, that is very useful, it has a magnetic end, so I dont drop the plug, and I dont leave the rubber guide behind on the end of the plug when fitting. |

A 1/4 drive 8mm socket will fit the dis pack bolts. You need a flexidrive though really.

IIRC the coil packs are held on by 3 or four E10 bolts
