Title: posting links
Post by sounds2k on 05. Aug 2006 at 21:33
just a quick tip (for those who don't already know), it is possible to add URL's to your post in a similar way to certain other forums - in that the address is only shown when you hover over or click on the link.

The trick is this:

instead of entering

Code:
http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product.asp?p=020110772

you do this:

Code:
[/url=http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product.asp?p=020110772]click here[/url]

which gives you click here instead of http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product.asp?p=020110772

:)

I prefer to see the full link displayed, as I like to know what I'm clicking on.

Yes I know I can right click and then click properties...but I find that a waste of time.

Sorry.

on both Internet Explorer and Firefox, if you move the mouse pointer until it reaches the link, the pointer icon then changes into a hand - and the destination of the link is displayed in the bottom-left hand of the browser window ... so you can see where the link is taking you ... right-clicking every time is too much work for me too!  ;)

Yes, but how do we know that the links you post are not actually spam and will take us to a site in the Ukraine asking for our banking details?  :o

... by reading the address displayed in the bottom-left of the browser window (in the status bar) when you have the cursor over the link  ::)

that's how you can spot the fake paypal-type sites you're thinking of too!
