Title: Mounting height of reverse sensors Post by Kev on 10. Aug 2006 at 22:46
Would anyone know how low down you are able to fit reverse sensors without the ground affecting them.
I've seen Marks pic of where they should be, but the irmy back bumper has only one flat surface and that is below number plate level. Is this too low? The rest of the bumper is curved downward so i don't think i could fit them as high as Mark has, cos the sensors would be pointing towards the ground. :( |

Kev, you should be OK as long as they are as horizontal as poss. There is a suggested minimum height, but I'm pretty sure your bumper will be above this.
If in doubt, stick them to the proposed mounting points with gaffer tape and see if they function OK. |

Cheers Hillper. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Have you any idea what the minimum is? I'll try with them just stuck on first, i'm just a wee bit nervous cos it's an irmy bumper, which took me ages to get, and a lot of money to replace if i balls it up. If you look at my gallery pick of the rear you'll see the lip i mean that is under the number plate. Also, it has been lowered ever so slightly. ;) |

Good grief!
I'm not normally into modded cars, but yours is stunning! I love those wheels, sorry, rims. And the flat bit is quite low on the bumper. I'd definately stick them on somehow and connect them up, but I still think you should be OK. Can't remember what the min. height is. Just try with them stuck on. Gaffer tape'll do it with some patience. |

Your car is very tastefully modded Kev, don't take it any futher.
Whats also good is you have the 3.0 under the bonnet, and the not 2.0 which some people mod for some reason |

Cheers Tunnie. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] I'll not be doing much more to her, other than TLC of course. ;) I would however love to have her running on gas, but that's a job for another time. Maybe when Martin or the like do a How2 for it. :) |

I'm sure he has done a how to 'somewhere else'.

Oh, over on the 'Dark Side' ;) I've not been back there since arriving here. I think it'd be quite lonely over there now. Hopefully he'll make another How2 for here, "The Worlds Number Omega Forum", then we wouldn't need to worry about such dark places. ;) |

i have just been out and measured mine....
from the floor 56 cms, from the bottom of the bumper 26 cms (all measurements are approx) I found with the kit i bought that the washer that sits between the sensor and the bumper has one end thicker that the other, this means you can 'angle' the sensor so it sits straight, |

Cheers for that Jay. [smiley=thumbsup.gif] Just measured the lip where i was planning on fitting and it's 35 cms from the ground, so i don't know it that's going to be too low. I'm gonna have to stick 'em on first me thinks and try them out. |

I believe they are supposed to be angled slightly upwards. Kev, you may have to angle yours a bit more upwards to stop it seeing the ground, but not too much so it can't see and obstacles on the ground... |

The sensors are slightly angled to enable you to keep them horizontal or slightly upwards pointing.
Get that Gaffer tape out! |
