I think you may need to try and describe the noise in a different way.

lol...

is the noise constant or when you go over bumps in the road?  You mention speed related - what speeds?

Auto or manual - on my old Carlton I had the vibration damper on the prop shaft go - very noisy

1998 Omega Saloon CDX 2.5 74000 mle had it 4 years

yes after reading it it does look naff its a auto saloon as i accelerate the the noise is a bumming sound  getting more  noisier the faster i go when i reach about 70 the noise is constant like running thru a tunnel or like if the rear window is down but i must admit the tyres are starting to get near the wear indicators they are avon zz3 i just thought someone might have experienced same type of noise wat is the recomendation for a decent tyre the avons tramline like hell

Yep, could be tyres, or possible DIFF noise. Check the diff oil level. Tyres can be odd. I know one cheap brand that really do 'whine'. I've had them twice now, so I would not recommend them but I can't think of the damned name of them now.

I would check the inside walls of the tyres as a matter of urgency, you could have a bulge.

I'd kick Graham Norton out then - stop giving lifts to TBs

Yup, i'm with you AA.

You don't want to be travelling along at 70 wondering where the bump bump is coming from when you get a blow out.

Generally speaking, that'd be bad.  :-/
