Title: Auxillary Belt
Post by Salty on 19. Aug 2006 at 21:06
When changing the auxillary belt is it worthwhile changing the tensioner at the same time?
I'm going to do the cambelt soon and the aux belt looks like the rubber is beginning to crack so I was going to replace it at the same time.

Check the tensioner pulley for play or roughness in the bearings, replace the pulley if bad but otherwise gently prise out the rubber seal and force a small amount of grease into the bearing then replace the seal.

I'll check that when I do the job. I'm just compiling a list of parts I'll need.

Just finished the Cambelt & Water Pump DVD which includes Mark testing and repacking the tensioner with grease, as described by Pete.

SKF (or whoever) must have been tight with the grease. Had to do the same with mine cos it was as dry as a witches t*t too!
