Title: Auto Dimming Mirror Fitment Post by nixoro on 21. Aug 2006 at 10:48
At the moment I have a mirror in position but not wired in which would be nice to have I have the connector and a piece of loom to the back of the mirror and I also have the connector which goes to the seat.
I've started to make the full loom but its proving time consuming and the fact that there are more cables at one end to the other. It would be nice to have them wired to the seat but it seems a right PITA to do. Is there a guide for doing the easy fitment or could someone tell me the method of fitting. Cheers Roy |

I've only wired mine in for dipping, so 4 wires (3 of which are up by courtesy anyway) - I guess you want the full memory stuff as well....

It would be nice but to be honest I would be happy just to have the thing working, I may just carry on with recreating the loom, but have been thinking is it really worth it. TheBoy i didn't know you had got your hands on one. How effective is it? Which wires do you need for the easy install. |

sorry to hi-jack the thread, but i just tryed installed the Auto Dimming mirror from the '95 Elite into my facelift, the loom connector seams differnt >:(
I took the courtsey light out and found 2 spare connectors, 1 small 4 pin one (microphone for car kit?) and another larger one which is similar to '95 Elites but not quite.... Facelift Auto Dim Connector: Connection Socket on '95 Dimming Mirror: Loom Connection from '95 Elite: Whe loom from the '95 elite seams to have loads more wires!! :-/ |

Tunnie, you're facelift won't have the loom, only cars with memory seats do.

The connector you have looks like a sunroof connector but I think you have a sunroof so cant be that.

Roy, You need a switched live, and 0v and a courtsey light on feed (all from courtsey light unit), and a reverse signal from passenger kick panel.
Haven't really tried it, as it has been light in evenings. Tunnie drove it last night, so he may be able to comment... |

Seamed very good, thats why I had a go at fitting one in mine. The mirror seamed to go 'blue'?? - It did make a differnce, well worth while if you have the loom connectors and the dimming mirror |

When I tested it using torches and black tape over sensors, it seemed to be effective, giving a deep green tint to anything bright behind...

Yeah thats what it looked like last night, very good. As you said before i only need a switched live, 0v (earth?) and a courtesy light feed, can i not get all that from the sun roof loom? - As i don't need that! ;) |

Title: Re: Auto Dimming Mirror Fitment Post by TheBoy on 21. Aug 2006 at 11:29
You can get all from courtsey light, just splice onto it. Reverse feed (which I haven't done yet) from passenger kick panel.

You maybe able to modify this using the live and earth for the mirror its just a case of knowing which is which on the loom part. |

I am quite fortunate as I have 2 at the moment one came with my seats and the other I got from a car someone was breaking in Luton. Not sure if either work yet but if one works then I will be happy. |

But no gain, as all (except reverse) available from courtesy light.... |

Sorry, no idea if using the memory functions - you'd need to look up on a wiring diagram.

Sorry being vague again basically like Tunnie I have a piece of loom with the connector in and would like to just wire this into the roof to get the mirror working. |

Title: Re: Auto Dimming Mirror Fitment Post by tunnie on 21. Aug 2006 at 12:27 nixoro wrote on 21. Aug 2006 at 12:20:
So like me you just want it to work at night? - No memory seat options. (pointless for me as i don't have memory ones) Then basically nixoro you will have the same setup as me, i too have the loom connector for the dimming mirror from the '95 elite. Using that, as TheBoy says you can splice into the a live feed off the courtsey light & a reverse feed to earth it. If you can hang on a few days I am sure I will get my fitted with the help of TheBoy, i'll then post up pictures of which wire goes where! [smiley=thumbsup.gif] |

And you've got no option to manually dip it as well :(. Nor a blind (which cuts down on dazzle from behind) :(. We'll try and get a how2 posted either at weekend or next week, as I'm busy on something else this week. |
