bascaically as the title says i have found a cheap omega that needs work on the gearbox and ive found a cheap box from a 2.0 petrol will it fit the car? any advice on buying a 2.5td? are they tuneable i know there 120bhp but supposedly you can see 150bhp with a chip? thanks for any help matt.

As other have said, post in Omega Help section for better exposure ;)

However, The 25TD has loads of torque and tends to wreck the AR25 g/box quickly. Early 25TD were fitted with a stronger version of the AR25, and this still wasn't really strong enough. Later ones were fitted with the AR35 as found on 3.0l petrols...

Forget using the 2.0, it won't fit for starters, and the torque of the diesel will very quickly kill it anyway.

Only sane choice is the AR35 from the 3.0 petrol, just change the bell housing.

Not a job I would relish in this weather! I did 2 of these earlier in the the year year and it is not a quick job.
