as i am experiencing a few problems with the motor at the moment im feeling it may be an idea to upgrade later in the year. is the petrol/lpg omega a good bet? any problems with this system?

Works fine for me, no noticable performance difference revving happily to the red line (there probably is a slight performance drop that would be measurable on a dyno) and the economy is reasonably good for a 3.0. I'm averaging around 24-25 MPG, and it gets a fair bit of stick. Loads better economy than my BMW which struggles to maintain 18 MPG even with the help of a 6th gear.

Perfomance differences are about the same as cool day hot day so a cool LPG day feels like a hot petrol day. Mine however still needs fine tuning as at full throttle it will cut to petrol when over 6000rpm for more than 2 or 3 seconds.

That said it happens for about 2 seconds once a week and I hammer mine

I dont hammer mine as Martin does  :o ....i get about 15mpg around town ....rising to 25 mpg on a run.....ran recently on petrol for about 80 miles...fuel consumption went upto about 30 mph....again on a run.....so....mine seems to do 5mpg better on petrol on a run

I hammer My Meega on LPG back to the NorthEast on a 250miles trip and i think i get great MPG cost about 18-20 quid in gas

How do you manage to keep it over 6000 RPM for over 2 seconds? There's only another 750 RPM to the red line, and the revs climb quickly when they're that high so I'd be shifting up pretty soon after hitting 6000. Unless maybe you're in 4th gear, but that would equate to around 130 MPH and still accelerating!

Remember on lpg you have less power......so hitting the high revs can be common if you make it work.

For ie tonight on way back from Heathrow.....head wind and with 2 passengers/luggage....i was using the kickdown to make it maintain or gain speed ( very slowly! ) going up the inclines....4.5 - 5k

Even tho Martins is a 2.6 as he says a caravan (and i think its quite a big caravan) would get the auto box making the engine rev high and probably not make much headway that quickly

Sometimes I can accelerate full bore no issues but if the LPG system has to open for longer than time* it cuts to petrol. I think I need to weaken by another percent on full throttle regime as well as richen on part throttle.

Opening time x rpm > time available.

Also the time issue is critical over 5500rpm and think how often you red line full throttle a car - at least a couple of times a day when warm.

I usually use sport and not quite full throttle - I definately need to see Bernard to get carburation trims adjusted.
