Title: Just to introduce myself... Post by wombatcurry on 24. Jan 2007 at 19:19
Hi,
altho I've been on the forum for a couple of weeks already, just thought I should introduce myself. I run a 97 Opel Omega 2.5TD CD which has now done 300 000 km, up to now no major problems. I hung around on the Yahoo forum for the last few years, but in the recent past I began to wonder where everyone had gone - now I know!!!! I live/work in France, but my workshop is in England, this has benefits and inconveniences: Benefits: cheap diesel! cheaper spares (for some reason Opel don't charge so much in France as UK!!) :o cheaper labour (approx £30/hour at an Opel dealership) :) food :D wine ::) women ;) Inconvenients: no workshop - if the thing breaks, I'm going to have to pay for it to be fixed :'( Can't think of any more right now! :-/ |

Howdoo, and welcome to the forum. Where in France are you? Looking to travel to the South of France at the summer and trying to find places/sights to view/visit, not always on the tourist path. Any tips?

Hi again, I work in Paris but have a house about 40 miles to the West in a hamlet near a town that even the French have never heard of!
My UK base is near Hitchin, I am sometimes here two weekends a month, sometimes I don't get back for months at a time. Genuine GM parts are definitely cheaper for major items (ex I was quoted more in pounds for the aircon compressor than I actually paid in Euros!) - however "standard parts" such as glowplugs etc are about the same price. Pattern parts are not so widely available except from major "Halfrauds" type outlets - one that I'm particularly impressed with is "Norauto" - they have a fitting service, generally know their stuff and have regular "good deals" - like when I wanted new shocks, they just happened to have 35% discount! (front Monroes cost 150 Euros per pair - the same price as on ebay for unbranded "made somewhere in europe we think" shocks) |
