Title: Hello Everyone
Post by pjd7325 on 17. Aug 2007 at 13:01
Hi Folks, I've just purchased a 1998 MV6 Auto (not ex Police!). Done 78k, in mettallic blue and I must admit so far so good! Did a 400 mile round trip to get it but I think it's worth it sometimes for a good car. There a few minor problems with such one dash light out, two climate control bulbs out and the windscreen/headlight wash pump seams to of packed up. Apart from that very happy. I am useless at car DIY and from past bitter experience :-[ do not even attempt it now. I am in the midlands just north of Birmingham. Can anyone recommend anywhere that can sort these minor problems out? Although not a major problem just annoying.  :y

Hi mate and welcome to the forum :y

You're not alone in not being any good at car DIYing, there a few of us on here. ;) However, there's a wealth of people on here that are that may be able to help - try posting in the General Help section. One of our members, JamesV6CDX, does mobile Omega work for a very reasonable price so might be worth sending him a PM - he did my cambelt kit recently and knows his stuff :y

Thanks all for the warm welcome. I've had many cars over the years and tried various DIY things and they have all ended up with diastourous results ;D so I tend to leave it to people who know what they are doing! May not be the cheapest option but saves the headache of trying to put it right afterwards! I am in Kidderminster, Worcestershire by the way. I don't expect freebees by the way ;D

Yeah I will check out the meet, thanks for the tip. I must admit I was very suprised to find a dedicated forum for the Omega :o. I expect these will be classics one day. Very impressed so far. Great bunch of helpful friendly people :) Unlike some other owners clubs sites I have visited in the past. ;D

Hello and welcome.

I feel the same as you when it comes to repairs, I am not confident enough to attempt fixing most things, affraid of making it worse! I have a friend of a friend who works for Vauxhall so he sorts anything out for me! Good luck with the site!

Well I am attempted the windscreen washer cleaning link and with reasonable success. I had to disconnect the air intake to get at the washer pump but reasonably straight forward. Only to find that the windscreen washer has packed up. Got one on order so should be easy enough to replace. Next on the list will be the dash lights. Don't think I will attempt the climate control lights though well certainly not on my own! Thanks for all the welcomes by the way. By the way I paid £1500 for my MV6. Full service history, cambelt and tensioner change at 71k, auto box fluid, coolantr and brake fluid changed at the same time. Superb condition inside and out kerbing on alloys, good tyres and a stainless steel rear exhaust and tip done 78k when I bought it. Was I robbed? or was it a fair price do you think?
