hi all. I have a question.
I have just bought a beautiful :) Y plate 2.5 v6 24v Omega. I was told this car was great on performance but it feels slugish??

I have been driving turbo Di's for about 10 years now and this is my first Petrol car since 1997. And of course you get used to the turbo kicking in at 2500 rpm ish.

If I rev from 4000 rpm to 6000 rpm the Omega has some go (but will drink fuel like its going out of fashion), but if I put my foot down at...say 70mph/3000rpm in 5th gear, the car excelirates but nothing earth shatering.

Is this normal? Do I need to work the car in between the 4000 - 6000 rev range to get any performance?

Your question may get a little more response if posted in the 'General Chat' or Techy sections.

If I want to accelerate from 70 in my astra diesel I drop it to 4th, get the turbo working  :) Then it flies, all the way to 74mph, officer  :y

I think the fuel thing, people learn to live with, it certainly won't be as economical as your diesels, but then you won't (hopefully!) be driving off in a big cloud of black smoke  ;D

:)Hi. Man/auto mileage? Mine seems to go pretty well and never smokes however hard you push it(have been followed) Modern diesels have an impressive punch but it's all over too soon as they're not built to rev. I'm not sure how fast you feel it should go. Is there anyone near you with a 2.5 so you can go against eachother or try eachothers cars? Nine seems to wake up @ 3000rpm, again @ 4'500 ish and a final burst @ 5.500 before the red, never had a car with 3 powerbands before. Been told it's the ram/plenum thingies opening up more & more as you keep your foot down between gear changes.
  Could be you're used to the instant diesel punch whereas the petrol is less peaky & needs pushing a little harder to deliver the goods. I did'nt boot mine too hard for the first few days but was pleasantly surprised when i did. [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

I'm in Brackley, and will willing take your car for a spin and let you know if its right.  Omega is heavy (1.7t) and refined, so can sometimes feel sluggish (though watch the speedo, and you'll realise its not ;)).  It also modifies intake characteristics via its 'multiram' system - these can cause loss of low down...
