Having read the Elite has an electric rear blind, I've struggled to work out what it is and how it works.

Can anyone elucidate?

It's a blind that sits in the rear window & it's opperated electrically. Simple as that really!  :y

I fitted one to my MV6 just for the novelty factor really, press the button and it rises from the parcel shelf to shade out the rear window. You can still see through it a little due to the small holes in it. Bit of a waste of time to be honest, only time I ever use it is when some retard behind me has the fog lights on!

Cheers. I was struggling to work out why you'd need one and what it would be like.

I wonder if it would be possible to colour it to spell WANKER when it's raised, for just the fog light problem you describe ;D

It really does help keep the car cooler when parked up.  Car still gets hot, just not as hot.

Surprisingly enough we've had loads of sun in September, hardly any rain at all :o Doesn't really make up for the woeful "summer" we've had though :(

Besides, I rarely carry rear seat passengers, apart from the odd inter-city partying trip, and some snowboarding trips (not long now!).

would probably be much easier to stick curtains in, otherwise, where would the blind go when not in use?

When you fitted it, was the wiring already in situ and did the metal shelf need any mods for the underside of the blind to fit.

As stated by TB, wiring is in place, very easy install. Bit of a pain getting the parcel shelf in and out (would be easier with the C pillar trim off, but I didn't want to risk it not going back on properly causing a rattle) but all-in can be done in about 30 minutes. The hardest part is finding a suitable blind and parcel shelf in the right colour ;)
