Title: Checking the toys Post by V8S on 27. Sep 2007 at 11:30
As mentioned in my other thread, I'm looking for an Omega.
Coming from a car that only has air con and heated electric mirrors as toys, the range of electrical equipment supplied in the Vauxhall luxo-barge is somewhat bewildering and I will have to check it all works when I finally buy a car. On a test drive I don't want to be relying on the owner, dealer or an owners manual to work out how it all works. Does anyone have a checklist of how to operate and check the electrical bits on Elites and CDXs so I can easily whack through it instead of wasting the seller's time? Thanks for any help. |

The common failures are:
Blind (if fitted) - ensure it goes up and down with no bad noises. Seat Heaters - ensure they all work (Elites have rear seat heaters, other dont) - should be warm to touch within 2 or 3 mins. Dash warning lights - ensure that ABS/Airbag/Engine lights all come off with ignition and go out shortly after (engine one go out when started) Radio - ensure it works, and that CD changer works (radio model 2006 in particular seems to suffer from naff CD changer units) Central Door locking - ensure all work, and in particular, you car open drivers door after locking. Thats only common electrical niggles I can think of. All but the seat heaters are easish fix anyway, using second hand parts... |
