Greetings all.

BACKGROUND: I own a 1994 (one of the first!) Omegas. Great workhorse, 2.5V6 manual (CD). However, the other day I cogged it down a couple to overtake on the motorway and blew the wadding clean out of the silencer and blocked the tailpipe exit. Obviously this caused a little back-pressure and I blew the top of one of my centre boxes clean out. Needless to say I now need to get a new exhaust from the cats back.

QUESTION: did a quick google and came up with the following site:

Looks too good to be true. Anyone know if these people are safe or are there some hidden charges somewhere? Has anyone tried the parts? Are they somewhat substandard, perhaps?

Any advice welcome. Embarrassing driving at the moment with the racket coming from underneath my seat!

The general opinion on here is to fit a genuine exhaust system as the aftermarket ones tend to be noisy and don't last very long compared to the aftermarket ones....
But if money is tight and your not keeping the car that long then........................

I bought system from Cat back on e-bay from Germany for £57 delivered
The equivalent cost from VX was £173, so assuming it lasts at least 3 yrs at that price I would get 9 + years worth out of 3 systems
Would a genuine VX system last 9 years?
As for the noise & performance, I don't notice any difference, but then again it is a Diesel :D

I newly changed the exhaust .The picture is similiar to the original but the writing under dont guarantee it will be the same..

On the petrol models, the aftermarket pipes are definately raspy and resonate more than the original fitment.  Mine is 12 years old and last year replaced the entire system, cat and both rear sections.  The old one was the original pipes, so yes, they should last a minimum of 8 years if looked after. ;)
Because it is a little (!) noisier than original, I have to crank up the stereo so I don't hear it!  ;D :o

a) generally thicker
b) less water generated in the combustion process.

Not sure how much longer the car will last but until a Monaro comes up for under 2 grand then I'll see how long I can make it last.

Oddly enough the manifolds and cats are all original and still look pretty good. Had a good look while I was underneath assessing the damage.
