Title: Has my Head gone Post by topdogkelv on 02. Oct 2007 at 20:57
Might have the scare of my life Just went to check the oil on my mv6 and what was there to greet me when i took the oil cap off yes a milky substance,
but im not to sure if the head is gone it might be the oil ive checked the pipes they were nice and soft hot but soft i checked the water bottle that was pressureised no sign off oil in there looked at the dip stick and no signs of water on there so am i right in thinking coz ive used 3 different types of oil its mixed and has left me this milky substance or is it still my head any ideas ? and if it is gone how much is it going to cost me i got a 1999 face lift model 3.0l MV6 manual |

Doubt if the heads gone, have you been doing many short journeys lately?
Clean the oil cap out, and do a couple of quick oil and filter changes with a decent oil. |

yeh kind off just back and forth from work and to the gym about 5 miles tops a day not checked the oil for over a good cupple of months only checked it as im supposed to be going to bridgend 2morro from bristol not sure if i should risk the trip yet think theres 3 different types of oil in there as ive only had the car 7 months put some magnitec in first time then i was out and about in the middle of no where and had to pt some cheep garage stuff in and then went to halford s not so long back but they had no magnitec so put some castrol stuff for cars with high millage do you think this could be the cause

Worry not, its just condensation...
Some oils seem to create more of these than others. Vauxhall own seems to be pretty good. |

if im honest when i first got the car i had a very heavy right foot as i loved the way it drove plus i got fed up with the boy racers allways trying it on and did do some very long miles aswell and was told there were big drinkers anyway so just put it down to that never put loads of oil in just the smallest one you can buy in the shops how ever much that holds

Mixing oil isn't great but I'm sure it won't be your problem.
Omegas do get some mayo on the filler cap. Short journeys do it. A long run should clear it out. |
