Title: Stupid Question #423 Post by entwood on 23. Apr 2008 at 16:34
On my list of jobs for the new beast, now the weather is improving, is an ATF fluid/filter change. I have the gaskets, filter, fluid ... what I don't have is a "level surface" !!
Due to the geography of where I live, this job will be done on axle stands, (4) .. the question is ... to get the best indications of "level" once its "up-in-the-air" .. where are the best places to stick a spirit level ? I need to get both fore/aft and side/side. Now just to complicate my thought process ( takes very little !!) ... does doing it on axle stands, with the weight off the wheels so I can run through the gearbox as Mr Haynes says to do the final level check, make any difference ?? or should it actually be run up the road then re-jacked for the final level check ?? Advice and p*ss taking welcome ..... :) ;D ;D ;D ;D |

spirit level the top of the door, it isn't 100% level, but the difference is no nominal i doubt it would make that much difference
I ran mine with the back wheels off the floor, just make sure the car is VERY secure on the stands, i try and rock it, if it is secure then i will get underneath get the fairy liquid ready after the ATF shower ;D |
