i thort oil cool had gone even picked up new cooler and parts

on my 1999 3l elite


Im not so shaw now if it has dose any one have a pic of what it looks in headder take when theres oil in it. from cooler

it did start about a week  after a coolent change ie i flushed then put in the blue stuff instead of pink

week later brown sludge at time thort it was a because some had mixed and i hadent flushed enoutgh

so then relfushed again for ages with hose and use pink stuff this time

and it was assumed it was oil cooler

Im wondering now if it was because i forgot heater and two types have mixed again

if it is blue and pink mixing causeing any one got a idear of the best way to flush it all out.


and i dont want to rip out the oil cooler if its not that

one paronoid elite driver at the moment here.

When the oil cooler has gone mate you will see thick brown sludge in the reservoir you can't really mistake it..

Too put your mind at ease then, the heater doesn't take a great deal of water at all, so try dropping all your radiator water, refill with clean water. Take the car out for a run let it get up to normal running temp, then drop all of the water again. What you are doing is diluting the water and coolant within the engine.. hope this makes sense.
Also you can take the pipes that go to the heater there are two one above the other, put your garden hose on one then the other untill whichever way you put the hose clear water is coming out.
Run the car for a day or two to see if this goop comes back.
If it is your oil cooler sure as eggs are eggs it will.
This will then put your mind to rest :y

i was just that it more of a redish brown like in the pics on that link
and it seems to dry very quick if you feel it there does not seem to be oily if you know what i mean.

all so as it sludges up the coolant level drops like its turning to a solid.

im just paranoid at the moment as im short of cash as well

as my last elite got wrote off  5 days after buying it by some muppet jumping a red light.

had to buy new one and still waiting from insharanse suing him.


pluss to top it off im wasted on industrial strength pain killers at the moment

for a doggy spine and   a tooth abssus it not my dam week.

Well If you could update your profile mate eg where you live, what engine you have etc there maybe someone near you who could perhaps have a look for ya :y

I would try cleaning the water out properly first that is the cheapest option too :y

If you used the Vx red antifreeze, its is mixable with the older blue variety without any reaction ...... I still say oil cooler!

I got VX stuff now but dident use that before.

when my head stops pounding im going to go do a  flush session and see what happens

if that dont work ill just change oil cooler

if i dont lose the plot first and pull out this tooth with a pair of mole grips first.
