Presumably it locks/unlocks with key?

If so, have you tried resyncing the remote to car (Ign on, press the remote buttons, and car locks/unlocks)?

Did it used to work?  If it is new to car, it needs to be programmed to car

Sadly, thats a job for a Tech2 diagnostic scanner (real one, not cheapo).

unlikely.  Could be a fault in alarm (CD or higher spec) or central locking (GLS) ecu, but more likely a fob fault or simply wrong fob...

what can i do if fob fault or wrong fob

If faulty fob, repair or replace (replacement will need programming to car).

If wrong fob, it will need to be replaced with correct type, and programmed to car.

If correct fob, and a working fob, but never been programmed to car, this will need to be done.

Firstly, is it a fob integrated into key?  If so, look at the back, and there is a small area that is untextured.  Look carefully (try different lighting conditions) and you will see writing.  What does it say - particularly looking for make, eg Megamos, Delphi, Bosch etc.  Then state what model car you have (GLS/CD/CDX etc)

there is no writing on the fob,on the key there is the number 105 thats all.

Sounds the right fob.

You say the LED lights up, but neither lock/unlock functions work, even after attempting resync (did doors lock/unlock during resync?)?

Sounds like its sync`d with the car?

Master solenoid possibly failed or not getting any power?

Can you measure any voltages at the door solenoid when the alarm is armed / disarmed?

:-/

And locking with key locks/unlocks all doors?

If so, I would suspect drivers door motor.  Time for the meter methinks...

when you attempt to lock, does it even attempt to drag the lock down?

Title: Re: central locking
Post by steve1 on 23. Sep 2008 at 21:45
no drag nothin, think i have to buy a meter or put in to a sparky to see what the problem is :(

possibly worth just changing drivers motor with a known good before paying someone to look - guide in Maintenence guides section

Agree, try changing the motor first - but would suggest against wasting money on a meter if you do not know how to use it, better off buying some beer tokens for your friendly sparky.

Haynes do repair manuals. No brilliant, but useful.  Worth spending a tenner on one from ebay - at Halfrauds prices (£20) bit steep.  If you are on about glovebox literature, again Ebay, or check OOF shop in a few days if I can find any around...
