Title: Which rims do fit Meggy?
Post by Hoffi on 24. Oct 2008 at 16:38
I am currently shopping arround to find a set of 4 wheels / rims for my Meggy for the winter.
Is it true that I can also fit and legally drive 5 stud Vectra rims?
Any other rims I should look after?
Anybody having a spare set laying arround?  ::)

Cheers!

Also Saab rims fit :y

I do have a spare set in the garage, but you can't have them, because they're mine ;D

stud pattern is 5x110pcd & vectra wheels are fine as the offset is similar if not the same :y, some saab wheels also fit.

Yes you can fit and use Vectra C, or even later Astra 5x110pcd wheels legally, just make sure you use correct tyre sizes if you "step-up" or "step-down" in rim sizes.

There are good tyre converter sites around, but I prefer these two as they are visual; one from the side elevation and another from a plan view.

Side Elevation:

Plan View:

Here are some example pictures of Omegas with them fitted; both are facelift cars, but it works equally as well with pre-facelift cars.

Vectra C Sri 19" snowflakes.

Astra 18" Penta wheels

The 1st (blue) car is mine and the silver one is actually an American rebadged Catera which belongs to "CateraMV6".

The offset on the Vectra wheels is different as it is a FWD car (more inward / higher offset - Omega Elite = ET38 vs. Vectra = ET45; so 7mm difference inward for Vectra (FWD) wheels).

I have used Eibach Pro hub-centric spacers. 18mm per front corner and 25mm per rear corner. This is not absolutely necessary, but I think that it helps the wheels to fill the arches better.

Here's a picture from an angle that shows what I mean.

Probably, but you do that anyway when you get bigger rims cos you down in profile. The end result should be that the rolling radius (is that the correct term? :-/) remains the same-ish.

I'm always interested to find out info about new wheels for my Mig.

One thing remains unclear to me and that is how to go about finding out about the Correct WHEEL size.

I want to put 19s or 20's on mine and all the suggested sites seem to imply that you know this as they are for checking Tyre size.

How do I check wheel size and all the necessary stud pattern and offset info - tyre size seems the least of my problems if I cant get the wheel size right before hand.

Where can I find this out so I can go bigger without getting the wrong wheels?

I apologise if i'm missing something - please help me out even if I am a bit thick.
Ta
Matthew

You need wheels with

A stud pattern of 5x11pcd.

An offset of about ET38 - 45 (Negative).

Go for whatever J rating you want, but I'd recommend 8.5 with an offset of ET38 if you can get them. 9J or 9.5J would fit, but if you went much higher in offset (ET) then you sould consider spacers.

Simple. :y
