am starting to think maybe either bearing in the prop as didnt change it just the carrier,or gearbox as ex plod car so maybe had lots of abuse

I note you have not done the nearside rear wheel bearing. :-?
That is the one I have had trouble with for some reason on a number of past Vauxhall's, so thinking about sods law I just wonder if that could be the continuing cause as of course it would be the last one to be replaced / overhauled! ::) ::) ;) |

Could the growling be Loo Knee's dog?

am now thinking gearbox, whats the chances of it being a bearing in the box starting to go,or could it be the diff, changed the center bearing on the prop today so ruled that out

Nearside front is the most common to cause issues and my theory is that it's the side that gets the most abuse on roundabouts. Although, a wheel bearing is more of a hum than a growl. |

Mine might be going for the exact opposite reason -- don't do enough to justify the car (the fact that I spent a lot of time car bound was the excuse I used to get motoring in luxury!). Now the mileage I do is laughable -- literally to the office and back -- not good for the old girl. |
