Title: Cream Post by Holy Count on 24. May 2009 at 16:34
Just has some apple pie with double cream :) :)
Is it my imagination, or is double cream thinner these days than it used to be (not allowed it often so don't get much to compare it to!) |

Nothing is the same as it was HC remember the bottles of milk delivered to the doorstep - how the cream gathered in the neck of the bottle? Seldom seen now. :( |

It shouldn't be as the butterfat content of cream which differentiates the different types of cream is subject to regulation, as for the "top of the milk" the vaste majority of milk available nowadays is homogionised which breaks down the cream content to such a degree that it cannot form as cream at the top of the bottle. N.B sad git for knowing that but it's part of my job :-? |

You can see at my doorstep each morning. You don't see the cream line anymore at supermarkets etc because it's all homogenised ie heated a little more than pasteurised but not as much as sterilised. You should all be supporting your local milkman ..... if he's still in buisness! :-? :y |

As you work in the dairy industry I'm guessing you use milkstone remover? More for everyone else really but if you can get hold of some (normally large farm shops sell it) then paint it liberally on the rusty parts of your car and the rust will turn to a hard black solid but it won't rust anymore. The active ingredient is the same as in Kurust at about 1/5th of the price ;) |

In one there Andy :y :y We should try to support all local traders as it might well be easier to walk to the shops in the near future, if the government eventually gets its way, rather than drive :y |
