Title: Euro Elections
Post by Vamps on 26. May 2009 at 20:57
Don't think we have local elections coming up, but the postal forms have come for the MEP elections.
Thing is there are 3 names in each box, under the various parties, about 10, some of who I have never heard of, parties or people :-/ :-/

I would like to 'protest vote' but is there any point in this particular election.

Trouble is protest votes are generally wasted votes -- but, as you say -- how can you vote for a party or person you have never hheard of ?!

Regardless of whether you think Britain should be in or not in the EU, methinks you should vote. After all you don't hear many people saying "I only vote in the local elections but don't know anything about national elections".

Whether we like it or not the EU has a massive say in what happens to we the "man in the street". A lot of it is surprisingly to the good (And I never thought I would say that!!) Just one example is local farmers in Spain used to put whatever chemicals they liked on their olive trees and land with NO checks. Now it all has to be accounted for(hwat chemicals used, application rates) before they get paid for their crops and they do the odd random checks to see what chemical residues there are on the land.
