Why are you so worried about GM/Opel/Vauxhall as a going concern?
Read almost any post on the forum and vauxhall are ripped to bits for their incompetence. The cars that manufacturers make now are all just clones of each other, aerodynamic little wedges that do 50mpg. The car that you all care about on this forum will not be affected at all. You still wont be able to get the parts and, when you do, you'll have to bend over to pay for them. ;D

There is over capacity and something has got to give. Lets face it...the Japanese make the best cars anyway. (Runs for cover)

let the 70 models you cant find a part even for 90 models Japanese cars here :-/

Yanks make the best cars for car nuts. Unfortunately, car nuts buy very few cars, and when they do, they're usually about 20 years old. The manufacturers that will survive are the ones that can sell thousands of vehicles to fleet managers, who will be more interested in mpg and time off road for repairs than beauty.

My concern is still Holden as I want a VXR8 in about 5 years when the prices drop

I have a justified deep mistrust of the US chapter 11 process after what happened with ntl telecoms company.

At the end of the day, there are still too many cars being made for too few punters and they aren't the right sort of cars. About 30 miles from us an absolutely huge area the size of a country was cleared and laid to Tarmac and is now chocker with brand new SEAT's.

I still believe that a fortune could be made by making simple , attractive cars that are economical and can easily be adapted with and for the latest technology.

Yep, in the good old days I knew as a company business women the British car industry enjoyed very large orders from the commercial sector for new cars to provide transport for their managers who travelled the land on business.  Private mileage is all I had to pay for, whilst covering 900k miles on business over 24 years in 13 cars.

Then the government of the day stepped in, and suddenly the company car was considered a "perk" which to start with just meant a tiny tax cost, but then escalated to the level that meant having a company car was no longer viable :'( :'( :'(.

One area this may have an impact on Omega drivers is availability of genuine VX spare parts. If there is cost cutting exercises to be done, or a change of policy from the new owners, holding stock is tying up cash that may need to be released elsewhere.

As Omegas get older one way to "persuade" drivers of aging cars to consider replacing them is to make spare parts more difficult to obtain. May take a few years to "kick in" but I think it could happen - especially with incentives to scrap 10 year old cars. :( :(

We have a Mitsubishi Gallant V6 auto, 133k miles and has cost less that 2 migs in servicing / parts in 5 years and still faster, and more economical than any Mig. ::) Comfy and light to drive, OK front wheel drive :-[

Its all Japenses over here. Anything else is in the minority. Parts are very cheap too and reliability very high. But obviously I still prefer the Omega ;D

Normally the distributor firm have a big stock in İstanbul and İzmir..So the parts mostly arrive the next day if not found here in Ankara..(except weekends)

But parts are nearly twice UK and sometimes more :'(

reason Omega is/was a manager car here.. 8-)
