Hello, Just changed my crank sensor after getting code 19, left the old one hanging in place. It now runs a lot worse than before - it cuts out after a few moments and then re-starts straight away but runs very rough. Any ideas please?  :-?

Was the new sensor a genuine one?

I can see gas escaping from the EGR when I turn the Key?   :-/

Yup Vaux main dealer

I understand 12 & 19 I think but whats 135?  :-/ :y

the codes are list in Common Issues and FAQ section - look for Section Index at top of board.

From memory, 13x are egr related.

are you close even to kevin wood to clear the code, and see what comes back? may be worth reset bl settings as well

Thanks, not sure It will make it to the end of my road at the moment :-[ The EML is also lit now .. :-/

My mechanic suspects that I need a new EGR valve to sort the above mentioned probs  :-/ - What do you think?

Could be suspect but, to confirm, cut out a blanking plate from a piece of coke can and mount it under the valve to block the ports In/Out of the valve, then see how it runs.

Odd that it got worse when the crank sensor was changed. If the EGR doesn't help I wonder if it's worth a squirt of switch cleaner in the crank sensor connector - just in case it's making poor contact?

If that doesn't help, maybe worth swapping back to the old sensor - or was that totally FUBAR?

I would gladly do a paperclip test but on my model that is not possible :(

Thanks again Kevin. I think I see the problem now. The pipe that runs down the drivers side of the block is connected by a piece of rubber hose, this has a big hole in it. The mechanic said he changed the rubber connector last time he looked over it because it had blown. It's gone again so can I assume that this could mean a knackered/blocked EGR valve or could it be a blockage in the pipe?   :D

Mathewst -My engine would cut out every now and again when I stopped at junctions etc.

Well this is odd. I replaced the burst pipe and tried the EGR off my other Miggy- still the same probs. So I replaced my new crank sensor with the old one and it runs. What is going on here? any ideas please? I'm expecting it to start playing up again. Unusual if the new Vaux sensor is duff eh? :-/  :y

The rubber pipe has burst again I ony replaced it last night! Any ideas please chaps ? I used thick rubber hose - I assume it gets hot, do I need a particular type of hose? Stressed!  >:( :-/

If its the rubber hose from the exhaust manifold, it could be blocked cats :(

Rubber hose sounds like the SAI injection pipe (silver one that runs across front of cam belt cover?).

As said, could be that the exhaust is partially blocked and there's too much pressure build-up here or that the one-way valve in the sai system is faulty and allowing hot gases up the rubber pipe.

Note also that a hole here would cause the lambda sensor for that bank to misread and perhaps cause running issues, although it sounds like you've also been dealt a faulty crank sensor!

I would block the sai pipe with something (15mm plumbing stop-end and jubilee clip?) and remove the whole system as it doesn't do much. Then see if it blows the pipe off again (exhaust blocked).

Yes it's just a small piece of rubber that connects the pipes together. it must have got realy hot as it burst through some realy thick rubber pipe after a couple of miles. If my exhaust is blocked what then? sounds expensive?? :'(

Sorry, when you say remove the system do you mean the part that runs across the front of the engine?
