hi i have been pulling my hair out with this fault.
right i bought car with cracked offside manufold, but car was running fine then about 2 weeks later car started cutting out,
if im doing 70 down the motorway or driving at 30 round town.when it cuts if i floor it after about 3 0r 4 seconds it fires up and is ok for 5 or 6 miles then does the same. sometimes all the dash lights come on and i have to put it in neutral and start it. the engine light does not come on.
i have changed the crankshaft sensor twice with no change. fault code 31 come on fault code but like i say i have fitted two crank sensors. i also hve oil lack come up randomly and coolent level. and some times the fuel gage shows nothing and then reads normal. hellllp. the car is a 96 3.0l v6 elite

Have a look in the sparkplug wells, see if they are dry and not full of oil or water.

Does it actually lose oil or coolant when its warning you about it?

And is the coolant clear or gunky?

Do you mean that the engine light NEVER comes on at all?? Are the crank sensors you fitted genuine Vauxhall ones?

I would recommend that you check your HT leads and DIS Pack as well

no both are fine all is clean

Maybe you could test it with a known working genuine sensor?

Have you checked the battery voltage with the engine running at idle, and then at say 3000rpm?

Wonder if its over charging and sending the electrics crazy?

yes i have checked volts its at 13.5 practicaly constant when engine is running. could it be the mass air sensor?
