Title: Is this one of life's greatest Mysteries/Rip-offs?
Post by MF on 13. Nov 2009 at 19:53
I bought (today) 2 x 9v batteries (brand new) at a cost of approx £5 - if I was to buy 2 x 12v car batteries (brand new) it would cost me well over £100 - so for an extra 3v I would be paying roughly 20 times as much - is this a rip-off or what :-[

No doubt this is a very simplistic way of expressing it; and probably it's something to do with with mega amps per hour and size of cells/whatever (I'm no electrician) but car batteries do seem extraordinarily expensive >:(

Simple answer buy 8x 1.5v AA batteries connect them end to end mesure voltage and hey presto 12v then try using them to try and start a your motor  ;)

8 * 1.5 volt batteries will have microscobic amperes compared to original car battery ;D

You'll still need about a grand's worth of them to start an Omega. ;D

The smaller batterys dont have the amps.
try it with a 12V bulb and see if it works.
not enough power ie amps/watts
