Luckily MOT is not due till 20 Dec so have some time to sort out.

Back box and 2 pipes that lead to it are knackered. Quoted £80 for box and £122 for pipes plus 2 hrs labour so looking at £300 + VAT. Ouch :(

Thanks Chaps, to show my ignorance. The exhaust on mine has two pipes which run to 2 middle boxes? these all seem to show 1 pipe. What am I missing?

I did. They said this would be worste case as 2  bolts that need to be removed, look so corroded they may need to be ground off.

Thats worrying...there are 4!

But it dont take long to grind them off....drilling and tapping them takes longer (easier on a ramp.

With the kit, its not more than an hour or so

Mark you are, of course, correct on the bolt count, my mistake. I think this is the first exhaust change on the car and the orginal bolts etc are just shot to pieces.

Thanks to all for the input on this topic.

Well thats good news. if original they can often be removed with the help of heat, if aftermarket they will be rubbish kwik fit type quality at whichp oint there is no hope!
