Title: Mirror Signal Maneuver Post by CD-Pete on 28. Nov 2009 at 21:07
Isn't that what we were ALL taught!!!!
I drove back from the hospital earlier & we were nearly home when an ambulance pulled out of a side street behind me, at the time i was being followed by another car. I saw the blue lights, so i indicated & very slowly pulled to the left for the ambulance. The muppet behind overtook me :o :o :o & then realized their mistake & pulled over. I gave them some lights & horn in my disgust at their lack of observation >:( >:( >:( Why don't folk look instead of driving with their eyes closed, this isn't the first time it's happed to me ::) |

Probably got the radio/cd player at full blast and didn't hear a thing.

Because all road users have been led to believe for the last 15 years is if they stick to 30, everything will be a bed of roses. There is another thread with a video of a road junction in downtown India somewhere. Ignoring the fact that 90% plus of the vehicles featured are death traps, there are no road signs, no traffic lights, no f**k all.....yet nobody gets hurt (and I'll bet that's because they think for themselves rather than listening to some idealist bulls**t). The only single entity to blame for the noticeable deterioration of driving standards over the last 25 years is "nanny". |

Are the mirrors not for doing your hair and make up then???? ::)
And I take it signal doesn't apply to rude hand gestures either! Won't say what maneuver brings to mind!!!!! :-[ |

Ooh, bit generalistic there Lizzie. My old lady drives a 4x4, and she also holds an advanced driving license....which makes her a better driver/risk than me as far as insurance is concerned (and probably on paper as well), even though I have more years as well as competition experience. On the flip side, as generalisations go.....I have noticed a small pattern of women who drive 4x4's (normally brand new BMW/Volvo/etc) who do seem quite dangerous if you observe them for long enough. |

Indeed KW, there are a few, like me, who are well qualified and practiced at driving 4x4's and larger vehicles; it is just that when I am attacked by a 4x4 (yes usually BMW, Volvos' and Range Rover's) it is always women driving them!! ::) ::) ::) :D :D :D ;) |

All vehicle classes need sub-divisions really, not all Beemers & 4x4's are driven by rich twats who think they own the place, or have a husband that owns the place. Fortunately, it is quite easy to distinguish the two :y |

interesting , I also see more woman driving expensive 4x4 SUVs than man..and can easily say they are rich as those vehicles cost serious money, more than a home.. :(

Had an ambulance following me on blues a couple of days back. Made progress that wouldn't hold him up until I passed a laybay where I pulled over and let him pass. Followed for a couple of miles and most of the drivers he came up behind simply stopped in the middle of the road.
If I were an ambulance driver I'd probably be hoping other drivers wouldn't spot me - because their reactions when they do seem to be totally irrational and dangerously unpredictable. At least they don't speed, though because speed kills. ::) Kevin |

I rarely pull over and stop for an emergency vehicle, just slow down and move over, unless obviously I have to. So why does everybody else seem to just stop or mount pavements etc to get out of the way.
The other day a car actually drove onto the centre of an island to get out of the way, his exit road (straight ahead) was clear, and it was a dual carraigeway. Nutters :o Mick |

Speed kills nobody,it is the stopping too quickly that does.I know that speed is blamed for a lot of accidents but it is driver error due to lack of attention that is the real culprit. |

Idiot tonight in Devizes ... at the roadworks, Ambulance coming t'other way with all the horns and lights .... obviously wanting to jump the red light, I stop, well short, on the green to make way .... the guy in front of me drives forward into the roadworks and then stops.... completely blocking everything >:( >:( >:(
Took several of us hitting horns to make him reverse 10 yards to let the ambulance through... :( Don't have the brains they were born with ...:( |

I reached the conclusion some time ago that males who drive 4x4s must be inadequate in the penile dept. hence the vehicle that they drove had to be larger to compensate. In the case of women who drive them could it be something similar except in their case having A cups rather than DDs? ::) |

i think we all make some sort of bad move or mistake sometime or another. sometimes with the radio off i start daydreaming or have things in my mind going on and you do get distracted. i went to overtake a car i thought was parked and overtook him at a red light. be hard to deny you have never done something bad on the rd at one time. but when you see it everyday it makes you feckin angry

Being the perfect driver I am ::) not. Well I nearly sh*te myself the other afternoon. Just about to pull out of a side road, looked right, looked left and right again and started to pull out...........double decker bus hurtling towards me from the right.... FFS where the hell did that come from :o :-[
No harm done but I bet he was relieved when I braked. Mick |

The old lady has always liked utility vehicles, but I can assure you it's not because she's worried about the size of her tits ;) |
