Title: 2 Pounds & 4 Pence Post by CD-Pete on 08. Dec 2009 at 17:28
I've owned my Xbox 360 for three & a half years & today for thr first time i had it, yes the red ring of death :'(
So not being defeated & always loving a challenge i looked up on how to fix the problem. Found a how to on the interweb & set about the fix. The only thing i was short of for doing the job was some Heat Sync Paste. Phoned up the local PC repair shop just around the corner & he let me have some for £2.00. So i followed the how to guide, used the four 1p pieces, heat sync & masking tape. Now i have a fully 100% working fine Xbox again & all for 2 pounds & 4 pence [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] I so happy, i'm jumping up & down. Can you see me :D ;D |

.... not that I know anything about such things, but I understand that if you now go onto Xbox live (the internet) with a chipped box then it gets refried by microsoft and you know own a large but light doorstop.... |

Given its due to solder balls on the base of the main devices becoming detached from the circuit board.....I wonder how long the work around will last....lets hope its a while! :y

my xbox 360 has been going for 3 years so far, its the later one with the updated heat sync and HDMI, it does occsionaly do the red ring of death, but its an odd one. Its E73 network error, and only a single red corner (not the entire ring)
I think its down to me pulling the power cable out few months back, when it crashed connecting to a server. It was the only option, nothing else was working. E73 turned out to be a network related issue, the fix, is to jam 2 small screw drivers in the back, to stop the cooling fans spinning, leave it for about 5/10 mins and force it into a full over heat. (50% of the ring) That triggers the box into 'safe' mode, then turn it back on and it boots fine! |
