thats odd, my local halfrauds replaced mine no issues. Just took the T50 or T55, which had been snapped by that thug omegatoy on my project Senator.

They said 'blimey how did you do that', and then promptly got a replacement, maybe worth going to another store  :y

Try another store... You could shout a little as it's meant to be a competitor to Snap On tools and you don't need a receipt with them ::) ::)

I'd be a bit more forthright!! ::) They have 'Halfords' stamped all over them, so it's obvious where they came from. You are asking for a replacement .... not your money back!
Go back in and be prepared to stand your ground!!! :y  :y  :y  :y

just received this e-mail from them

Dear Kev,

Thank you for your email.

In regard to your query, you do need your proof of purchase to return a
product to Halfords.

If it was paid for by card then a statement showing the transaction would
be an acceptable form of proof of purchase too.

Please accept my apologies for your inconvenience.

Kind Regards,

Robin.

so, dont buy anything from halfords as a gift in case it brakes as the warranty will be void. Load of rubbish. Life is life, the end!

As with the trade club card, there are plenty of stores to fine tune your story.

You have no chance of doing head bolts with the Halfords bits.....they would not get past the 2nd 90deg tightening!

You have proved you bought it from Halfords ........ it has Halfords stamped into the side of it!  :-?
I wonder what trading Standards would say about their requirements for their 'life time guarentee'  :-/ I remember the 'Legal Eagle' on the radio years ago saying that you didn't need a receipt if you wanted a replacement for failed/faulty goods.

I have a receipt that I can send you if your stuck - for the profesional 150 piece set but I bought mine about 6 months ago -

Or just go in and buy the bit you broke - leave it 3 months and then take the broken bit back with that receipt and insist on a refund.  I dont normally condone such behaviour but if they are going to shaft you then it's fair game  :y

just had a word with a mate of mine who's a manager at halfrauds  :y

his advise is go back  ......... call for the manager ........... get his name ........  point out the halfrauds name on it and if they refuse to replace it then phone tradeing standards in front of him and watch him sh*t himself  :y

whatever you do, Don't back down  :y

have fun mate  :y

Dont back down they have no right to ask for proof of purchase as it is marked from the company it came from. I have never had a problem with anything, just go in speak to somebody and then they off and ask a manager then i get handed the new bit of the shop floor. Mind you I have never managed to break any of the professional stuff yet and I'm a agricultural engineer. I have had to just replace stuff that was faulty at the time of purchase. All I can say is if your breaking the stuff you aren't using it properly or you aren't using the right tool ie head bolts need 1/2"!

manager was not ther when i called in tonight will try again in the morning as i have a later start

i was only going to use it to do the 25nm first stage as i had the set out then swap for the 1/2 inch one from sealey for the 90 degree turns
but it only managed three @25nm before snapping

that is only the second tool i have broken in over 20 years
