Title: Door lock Post by Entwood on 09. Dec 2009 at 19:38
Just started happening today .. :(
Car locks fine with remote, but on unlocking an oddity ... :( All locks operate with a satisfying "clunk" and the door thing moved up and looked to be in the unlocked position, but drivers door would not open.... open rear door and reach in and lift the thing, it moves no more than 1/8 inch and the door will then open. This is now happening every time ... :( So the actuator is moving fine .. but just not quite far enough .. :( Is this a squirt of ambersil on all available orify, or a door card off job ?? If the latter what am I looking to adjust/replace ?? as it is literaly just a wee tad off lift on the indicator thing to allow the door to open. Many thanks in advance :) |

had similar tired action from mine of late. Comes and goes, sometimes it just flicks the pin, but doesnt rise, sometimes it just falls short of unlocking, i presume it needs a central locking motor? But will be interested in your replies.
Whats really annoying is you lock the car and walk off, then come back to find the passenger door unlocked. So now i cant trust it and have to visually check all 4 pins are down before leaving the car. Just when i thought i had done all my jobs. |

Mine was doing the same and is now fine after I had a go at it. Did all 4 in the end to make sure. Probably just needs a bit of a lube on the connecting rods and mechanism but its a door card off job. Its easy enough provided that you remember EXACTLY how the rods come off and they must be re-fitted the same way or it will bind and stick. Also make sure that the pop up buttons are all cleaned as a build up of dirt on the stems which are a close fit in the trim causes them to stick too.
Give the whole internal door lock mechanisms a generous squirt of light spray grease for good measure. Should take you about an hour in total. Cheers Ray |

Thanks for the answers ... :)
Not got time to attack it properly, so I've given all the bits I can get to a good squirt of 3-in-1 and cycled the system a dozen or so times .... touch wood at present it seems to be working again ... but I won't hold my breath !!! :y :y :y |
