help i'm stuck just gone to undo oil cooler pipes by oil filter,taken oil filter cap off taken cartridge out but how does the housing come off and what do you use as it is tight  :'(

inside housing is nut for 27mm socket

Inside the base of the oil filter housing is a bolt.

This requires either a hex insert or a large socket.

yep you were right it was a hex insert my oil cooler problem is getting there least it stoped raining now bl##dy weather just freezing my arse off instead,not good when your riddled with arthritas

just been on phone to vx dealer one thing to note when doing this job the seal that goes on the base of the housing does not come with new filter only the top ,i.e the cap and thats an extra 5.26 the cost is adding up for a straight forward i say that loosly job when will it end :o

you will probably not need one....done many now and never needed to replace one yet.

oh well if a jobs worth doing i might as well do it properly,seal on order and a seal for that big stainless looking pipe that runs across the driver's side manifold as i am going to attempt to take off breather box as it is chocked solid i am begining to think service was not in last owner's dictionary :D
