    Whoever writes lyrics like "I love you from the the bottom of my pencil case"? Despite this they sold millions so who do you hate that everyone else loves?

As for Elvis,not a huge fan myself but he was without doubt the most important/influential/significant artist in the history of popular music. Never could stand Freddie Mercury or Queen myself, thought they were enormously over rated,,but we are all different. ;)

There is loads of crap bands around. And too many of them are signed.

I dislike quite a bit of rapping - I do not like the shouting rather than signing.

I also hate the diva warbling type of pop singers - the ones who go on and on and on. eg Witney Houston

Must disagree, I thought those lyrics were great - they made sense , they fitted and were singable.

a lot of songs annoy me, manly due to repetition - only the chorus should be repeated - it's a simple rule - GET IT RIGHT.
the other rule is the lyrics MUST make sense

I've got to say Proclaimers were far from sh!te. Letter from America  was really good. As anyone who knows even the tiniest bit of Scottish history would understand. And Scottish musical tradition. At least they took the trouble to write something with words and meaning. Better than all the "sampled" ie copied stuff we've had for years now. LFA was the high point, tho.

For overrated bands, top of the list has to be Queen. How come they're still "around" even ??? years after the one of them that had anything died. FM's will must have said "if you want the royalties, you got to keep on promoting the band".
