Title: Student Fee's Post by tunnie on 16. Dec 2009 at 16:18
As is often pointed out i am an ex-student, but looking at the course i did 2 years ago, the fees have trippled :o
http://www.brunel.ac.uk/courses/ug/cdata/m/MultimediaTechnologyandDesignBSc#facts To do my course now will cost around £11,000. Thats just to attend the course, no house/flat rental, food, supplies, nothing else, JUST to attend the course. >:( You even have to pay fees for thick sandwich years when you are away on placement, and never step foot on campus, which i was very angry about at the time. |

But we all have to pay for our sandwiches regardless of whether they're thin or thick! ;D ;D

In Victorian times .........most poor people started work at about eight.......later in the Victorian period......about twelve years became the norm. By the 1920's .....most kids started work at fourteen....I started full time work at sixteen......the average student seems to get his first job.......... at about age twenty -five....... My question is this.......are students a bunch of lazy work shy buggers?....THE ANSWER IS......... ;) ;) ;) ;) :y |

16? what took you so long? I got my first job at 15, i worked in Tesco's, Currys, local marketing companies, local corner shops, so you can't really put that one on me. I saved enough to pay for a good chunk of early uni stuff...... |

I'd like to see a return to less people at university and grants.
My daughter will definately go, and supporting her will be a nightmare. |

There are enough grants to do it without, its all based on family income. If your below a certain threshold, you get loans for the fee's. With London bonus, my standard loan was £5.5k per year, (although i only actually took it out for 2 years) As long as you don't spend your time down the pub its plenty, i used it to buy my Omega (best thing i ever bought) and do countless trips to the states. |

First thing they need to do is get rid of the shite courses which are not worth the paper they are written one.

But it is wealth creation. One of her relatives (Sues cousins daughter so I don't think I am unless you add in-law) does engineering and has got her interested. Anyway I don't think she would be any good at media studies |

I miss the reduce gun i had, i would set everything i wanted to 5p. ;D Noticed its all upgraded now, and you have to log all reduced items, think they must have got wise to my earlier antics ;D |

All pre made, things that needed to be hot went in the walk in oven! Mostly was all the pre-sealed stuff i worked on. I can actually make sarnies, i use those Toastie bags here at work to make up one and toast it. they work quite well! |

Yes the organisation in this country doesn't really have a clue. A recent BBC news item about how far ahead britain is in wave technology showed a couple of ideas currently being worked on, as if they were new stuff. However Salter's Duck was invented way back in 1974, but the powers in the nuclear and coal fired industries killed it off, cause it could have been fairly cheap to produce compared to their prices. Britain is too choked up with layers of civil servants who do a fine job of making industry uneconomic hence it moves overseas. Ken |
