this is around the corner from me and this isnt the first time its happened there, the largest somalian area in london and must be the dirtiest now which is a no go area after dark. most shops have a robbery poster in the window and theres more muggings than people there.  :( :(

both my boys have been mugged in hayes on there way home from school in the past and no charges were ever brought as the cctv is never working, so the police told us.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.Unfortunately many cities are getting these no-go areas and not always ethnically based.

OK OK figure of speech as it where, but at 10 I was playing in the woods, building dens and making our own catapults, and yes we did use knicker elastic for them.

And I would add that 10 is still junior school, and sex ed did not take place until secondary school.

tom has to go a long way round to get to and from school, he wont go through there on his own
when my eldest got mugged it was because they wanted the girl he was with, she did a runner and left him getting a beating.

thats right your not being racist but if it was a white area that didnt tolerate somalians then that would be racist.racism is a card that is played when an ethnic minority dont get what they want and then there it is on the table

Oh gawd, now your taking me back bit, yes I did wear Yfronts back then, I would like to say we got the knicker elastic from the girls, but that would be stretching a bit far (no pun) No mum's in my day had a proper sewing box with all things like elastic in it, my mum always complained at how much of it when missing. :)

If they are Somalian, it is not really much of a surprise. :(

A little research into Somalian culture will show that women are considered "chattels" and a boy is a "man" at 10. In Somalia itself at the age of 10 they would be carrying guns and probably have killed by now.

Now there are a lot of "decent" Somalians who would be horrified at my suggestion .. but there are also a lot of "gang culture" illegal immigrants to whom this is a way of life .. they actualy don't think they are doing wrong as it is how they have been raised .. :(

Somalia is one of the poorest and most corrupt nations on earth.

Not racist .. just facts about a culture and way of life ... unfortunately  :(

Is it just in Leeds but, when did you last see young kids on a homemade go-kart or bogey as we called them, pram wheels and string steering--classic childhood fun and adventure
