They are fantastic. Great handling and road manners. They are renown for front suspension wear and in particular dented alloys. Several people I know have had quite a few problemswith balloon bulges appearing in the inner sidewalls due to 'adventurous' driving and a low profile. Buy it! :y

I had one for a few monts - a superb vehicle. 220 BHP as standard but can be Bluefinned easily upto 270 ish (Google Bluefin with Superchips) for about £400 :y
The straight 5 drinks fuel though, more than my MV6 IIRC. Obviousy I did'nt have both cars at the same time, but got 30+ with no prob from the MV6, but only mid 20's from the ST. Interestingly, I had the same engine in a Mk4 Mondeo Estate and got 30 no problem. The turbo needs revs before coming on-stream, probably explaining the thirst. Also eats front tyres. Seats and lights are great, but the interior trim on the earlier ones isn't too great, and dominated by the turbo boost dial - somewhat faux in my view. HTH ......... |

Your'e welcome.
The good thing about Bluefin BTW is that it is a diagnostics port plug in jobby and can be moved from car to car (comptible models) with an upgrade fee being paid. Has taken the power on a pals 1.8TDci Focus from 115 BHP to 145Bhp and significantly improved the MPG as she can now get 60+ on a run. So, crap cars they are certainly not, and the heated windscreen is ace ....... |

my best mate had one of these and with a few bits got it up to 320 bhp with the aid of dream science and the usually bits induction kit, new rad, full system with de cat was like shit off a shovel but got rid of it to get a cosworth running 400 bhp but what a motor that was wiped the floor with a m3 with a rolling start

An auto 3.0 Elite Omega can give one a run for it's money in the outside lane of the motorway!!! (at very silly speeds! :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ ) .... apparently! ;)

I dare say, but I also know that South Wales Police couldn't (maybe wouldn't on the grounds of public safety) catch a nicked ST Focus on the M4 using a T5 estate - which is faster than an Omega.
Its a bit academic really though, they are all very fast cars and a danger in the wrong hands. |

My mate had an RS Focus for a couple of years but got fed up of its race car ride quality for every day use (plus my £2500 Audi S2 used to beat it in a straight line quite comfortably) so he chopped it in for an ST.
He says this was actually quicker than his RS in most ways and was more refined in every way possible, he loved it. He didn't love the MPG though, drank like Paul Gascoigne apparantly. He px'ed it in for a BMW 125d which he now says is the best car hes ever had and has quite literally halved his fuel costs, plus its quicker in gear. |
