Title: Wanted: Tyres 225 55 16. Post by Squealey on 11. Mar 2010 at 17:33
Just checking my motor for its MOT and have discovered that my rear tyres are shot. They are 225, 55, 16's.
Does anyone have any they no longer want/need that they would like to sell. My car is an Elite (1999/T) and has the correct wheels fitted so if they are on them rims then thats fine. Within commuting distance to Boston would be great but I know im living in cloud cuckoo land on that one. But I do have family in Hemel Hempstead and my folks are spending this weekend in Oxford so if that helps. Failing that, how much are we talking to ship them to me in Boston. Thanks in advance :y wayne |

sounds cheaper to go to local car breakers, we have one here and they do tires for approx £30 a pop.
i get these brand new for £65 for reasonable ones or £56 for budgets. brand new. I have a set of CD wheels here for £200 with 4 new tires on incl the wheels. |

Think your probably right Simon, just thought I'd chance my arm on here, theres actually a few people live within 40 miles of me and you never know.
I've seen some Nexens (which is what it has on now) for about £65 fitted but i've also discovered a neighbours brother runs a part worn tyre company so I've asked him to have a word. Cheers for the answer. Wayne |

Those Nexens were under £50 a pop, but thats got to be well over a year ago.

I did find them for £49 I think but that wasn't fitted. They are good tyres though aren't they!
I had a Mazda 6 a few years back fitted with Bridgestones from new, they were absolutely useless when pulling off in the wet, changed them to Pilot Primecys as soon as I could, really made it like a different car. |

That 225/55/16 is a relatively uncommon size, thus price does creep up. The CP641s on the tractor I was impressed with - for a budget tyre. Grip was good in all but the heaviest rain. |

I may be able to help you out mate...I'm looking to change the alloys on my mini facelift elite...which means I would have a set of elite alloys with good tyres up for grabs and Boston is not a million miles away from Gainsborough :y Just gotta get a 4th alloy to make up the set which I think is sorted and they are yours if your interested...pm me for more details :y
Alloys with tyres are about 21Kg...cheapo couriers will usually take a max 30Kg which means sending them seperately...about £7 a wheel to send...however I can meet you in Lincoln if I can work out how to get 4 alloys in a saloon without getting dirt on the carpets (or the missus will kill me) lol |
