Title: "eco" flashing
Post by chrisgixer on 20. Mar 2010 at 22:52
"eco" flashing...on my facelift climate panel, is this normal?

i never select it normally but pressed it today when out and about. On restarting the engine i noticed it flashing for about 10 or 11 flashes and then it stays on, is this just a reminder the ac is off or is it trying to flag a fault?

wondering still if the facelift climate panel has a fault warning similar to the pre face "--" in the display. :-/

TA

Doesn't do it if I don't press ECO  :y

IIRC it tries to remind you that you should switch off ECO due to circumstances e.g. it is very moist and it would be good to have the a/c compressor running. Not any fault.

...and so presumably will not flash if screen misting is  not likely, if so...?
:-/

jep, nothing on the handbook but having followed it flashing occasionally for several years (does that esp. when the temp is near/few degrees below zero and eco is on) this is the result I have come up with.

Pretty sure its a tech2 setting available on later climate softwares. Not sure what it signifies though?

Well, in my experience pretty much yes... At least nothing to worry about, there is nothing wrong with the system

I should have the latest software and it does blink on some start-ups. Never during driving, only the few first seconds after starting

Seems to only do it on start up. Not tried if it comes of when turning ECO off...

Just checked mine ... does the same .. I guess its a "reminder" that you have started up in ECO .. ??

only on startup and never with ECO off. And never during driving despite the ECO on or off. So, should think it's only to indicate that you should turn it off due to the circumstances. It can not force it off because e.g. compressor will not start below 4 degrees etc

does not flash when selecting eco while driving...as you say, only flashes if eco is already selected from previous

Yep, mine does the same. I agree with the answers already stated above, it's just telling you it may be in the wrong mode for the temperature conditions prevailing, as it's only ever done it since the cold/damp weather started. :y

nout amiss anyway, we cant all have climate faults.

But just to confirm while we're all here on the subject, there is no fault notification on the face lift climate panel ???

Never seems to stop raining here, probably why mine always seems to have do it (but I do live in Cornwall  ::) )

ECO flashes to remind the driver that it's in ECO mode as far as I can tell. Not noticed it ever not flashing in certain conditions.

It can be disabled by Tech 2. Not sure why. :-/ I guess GM got sick of customers asking why it flashes. ;)

Why not just explain it in the handbook then eh?
