Was around 6-8 hrs stripping, 4 hrs finishing it. I cheated and gave the finishing job to a friend who has a metalwork shop, as I done most of it sat between my legs on the garden :-/, my mate said it would'nt need any lacquering ::) |
Title: Re: THE PLENUM............ Post by Exec on 28. Mar 2010 at 22:43
well, it's a lot of hard work, but the effect is worth of it :)
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1221442045/ i didn't laquer the polished plenum too, it doesn't oxidise, just needs a cleaning once for few months... |

Mike Dundee.
Just looked over your site, you must have so much patience! and top marks it really does look good! It makes my Omega, which is a good example look like a banger. I must admit there is something about the Omega which I like, I don't know what it is yet lol. |

As its alloy, if you stick a greasy finger on it the grease will soak into the metal......hence, laquer it and it will be MUCH easier to keep clean |

We discussed this actualy on Friday, you dont need high temp plate for the plenum is it wont get above about 100 degC.....mainly because its nicely air cooled :y |

I noticed that actually, they dont seem to get hot really, but better to be safe than sorry i suppose for the sake of £4 a tin,and i would say that the high temp stuff should adhere better to it. :y
