Title: Wanted - reversing sensors Post by Entwood on 21. Jun 2010 at 22:21
Wanted for facelift elite, 2 x factory fitted "park pilot" reversing sensors and the corresponding bit they fit into !! This is made up of 2 sections.... one bit clips into the hole and its surround in the bumper, the lugs appear to be extremely fragile .... :( the other bit clicks inwards step-by-step to enable the sensor to be accurately aligned.
If anyone is breaking one with park pilot and doesn't want to split the thing up .. I might still be interested in the whole caboodle... sensors/mounts/control box ... if the price is right .. :) |

Can I put you on hold with them ??? I might end up buying them off you and trying to "fix" the mounting bits if no-one has any .. or asking AndyC if the mounting bits are available .. |

Well if Entwood only wants two units off you (and due to the fact they are already sprayed Z157) then i'll take the other two as spares for the future! Just chuck them on my pile of bits I have still got to collect from you! ::) ;D |

One sensor here:
http://www.carpartsconnexion.com/vauxhall/partdetail.asp?dp=70988&f=Vauxhall&m=Any+model&y=Any+year&cat=0&pn=90513512&p=1& I seem to recall that the fittings are available on their own |

Thanks .. contacted them to ask how many they have ... :) I got a set of fittings from AndyC ... :) Two of the sensors fail to "tick / vibrate" so my guess is they have had it .. :( One question you might know .. if you disconnect a faulty sensor does the "error" beep stop ?? or does it continue as the circuit is now "open" ??? |

All sensors must complete a circuit to silence the tone. Swap a good ticking sensor into a bad sensor position. If the good sensor then does not work you know it's a wiring or connection issue, if the good sensor works leave it there and plug the non ticking sensor into the good sensor position if it still don't work it's fubar. Any thoughts on how these behave when towing/reversing? :-/ Edit to add, issue with mine was purely a poor conections in the plug to sensor. Swapped it with the one "next door" and all is well. :y |

Title: Re: Wanted - reversing sensors Post by Entwood on 07. Jul 2010 at 17:41
Thanks for that .. swapping the sensors is a bitch of a job due to the Irmscher rear bumper .. makes it very difficult to get your hands on the sensors... I'm actually planning to take the bumper of to change the two duff ones when I get replacements !! (looks like I have 1 new one on its way) .. probably have to pay AndyC full wack for another .. :( )
As to towing/reversing, there is "supposed" to be a way of "telling" the system you are towing via a feed through the towing electrics, bit like the system that turns off the high intensity fog lights, but I haven't sussed it yet ... so I just |

If it helps, I didn't undo the bottom of my irmscher, just the wheel arch screws and the 4 behind the oval caps where the boot shuts, tape up the wing sides to prevent scratches and gently lean the bumper back enough to get your hands in from the top. May need to support bumper from the bottom with a bear crate or something of suitable hight. The sensor wires aren't long enough to do much else ime. >:(

Thanks for that .. hadn't considered that idea ... 'twas gona undo the lot and lie the bumper backwards/horizontal on supports while I messed with the sensors .. your way might be easier .. :) |

:( 'Twas the wrong sort ... even though the guy insisted it was the correct one .. so I still need 2 but have a brand new Bosch sensor 90513512 .. apparantly I need the "special vehicle" parts .. which I have now ordered from AndyC .. at £30 odd + VAT each .. :( So if anyone is after the "other" sort -- round and blue as against black and squareish ... let me know :( |

The one I have .. that doesn't fit ... 90513512
The ones AndyC has ordered for me ... don't know ..but the car is listed as SVO so he's ordered from that .. seems to know what he's on about !!! |

Agreed .. A non-essential driving aid ... however .. I have this thing that if it is fitted to the car it should be working properly... which is why the powersounder was replaced and the reversing sensors will be sorted. At present I have a hole where one should be ... and it is NOT staying like that ! OK .. I could stick a failed one, leave the speaker unplugged, and no-one would know ... except me.... but it would not be "right" :) |

Title: Re: Wanted - reversing sensors Post by Entwood on 12. Jul 2010 at 09:15
Thanks for the thought Chris ... but it's all far too difficult !!!
Seems my vehicle is "Special Order" according to AndyC and his computer - I think this is the full Irmscher kit as "factory fit" .. and I have different sensors to the normal ones. Mine are sort of rectangular with rounded corners and 3 pin socket, "normal" ones are round with a 4 pin socket. Whenever you speak to anyone - except AndyC - they are adamant that the round ones are the only ones .. so I get the wrong parts. Have bitten the bullet and ordered new ones from AndyC. :( |

AndyC strikes again ... parts just been delivered .. and they look EXACTLY like the one I've taken off ... (except for the paint .. which is on order from local dealers )...
Just need it to stop raining so I can drop the rear bumper to fit them next, although I might go and plug them in just to see what happens ....... :) many thanks Andy .. prompt service appreciated ... again .. :y :y :y :y |
