Post by MartinP on 23. Aug 2010 at 23:07
needed 1 threaded boss to convert my engine from paper filter to spin on filter

£14 from my local stealer, "part not in stock and never sold one"

Thanks

just keep what you've got. I can't see the point in changing for the sake of it.  :-/ :-/

I've bought one recently, got the part number from the guide on here. Wasn't in stock but came in within a couple of days.

It was more than £6 though.

The reason to change is that the screw on filters are a fraction of the price of the element ones and much moe robust

However, I believe there's less filter element ::)

I know what's posted here re spin on vs element type, but I've had my car for about 7 years & 70 000miles, done loads of oil changes & never had a problem with mine.
As for price .... I can't argue that the element is twice the price of a spin on but .....we're talking £3-odd

The casting is already broken, due to someone using 15,000 Nm's instead of 15 Nm.
