Hi All,

What is the 2.5 like with lpg?
Any different kits to look out for?
Do it your self or "pro" recommended?
Any idea of cost?
Recommend anyone?

Have a look at the LPG section at the bottom of the maintenance guides index. Lots of useful info on the various kits and fitting there :y

My 2.5 has LPG.It runs the same on gas as it does on petrol.Approx 24mpg at around 74p per litre currently, although LPG prices are rising sharply at the moment.
DIY, approx £700 for the kit, if you are handy with the spanners.Pro jobs vary from £1200 ( which is what the reciept formine from June 08 says) to around £2500.
Stag kits seem to be the most commonly used by members on here.
There are pretty comprehensive guides for doing the job on here, and several knowledgeable members who have done the job who are always willing to give advice.
I bought mine already converted from another member, so not experienced at fitting personally.
Professional jobs seem to have quite a poor reputation - varying from the downright dangerous in some cases, to untidy, not very well planned - like mine.
One member - Entwood - has had a pro installation done and by all accounts it was a thoroughly professional (if expensive) job.
Before you jump in, do some calcs. How many miles p.a. How much you are likely to save, how long it will take to pay for itself etc. If you assume a saving of approx. 30%, that will be pretty accurate imo.Hope that helps. :y

After an idiot didn't tighten my cam-belt back in March 07 I have only gone back to driving the Omega since November 10.  It's gorgeous to drive but the consumption is scary.  Round town a full tank only does about 180 miles!!!  This seems worse than I remember.  Does it sound right?

A full tank is approx 16.5galls (75 ltrs) so that means you are only getting 11 mpg - mine does around 25mpg - so think there's something not quite right here  :o

Even with lead boots on I'm pretty sure you should be getting more miles to the gallon - TheBoy(TB) is known to be a bit of a boy racer so I wonder what mpg he gets ?

I topped up the LPG tank earlier today, and I always calculate mpg/costs every time I fill.  16.4mpg :(

In defence of the car, I have been running late all weekend, so it has suffered a bit of 'aggression'.

My average LPG mpg since 8th Nov (when I last reset the tool I use for mpg/cost calculations) is 19.5mpg.

This is on my 3.0l auto.

16.4mpg at 71.9ppl = 19.9ppm :o

Still cheaper than playing Miss Daisy on petrol though.  And, oh what fun that last tank of LPG was ::)

Resetting the 'tool' on my mileage calculator is extremely labour intensive. It involves carefully aligning the body of the biro with the top!  ;D ;D ;)

Some of us have embraced the new millenium :P

I have a tool on the phone that records fuel spend and mileage for all my vehicles, saves manually doing the calculations, which saves my lonely brain cells from overheating ;D
