Gents,

Is there an idiots guide on this forum reference how to change front and rear brake pads, had a good look but cannot find it if it exists.

National and Kwik fit want £180 to change both front and back pads.  Seeing that you can get all parts for less than £50,I am not going to pay £130 in labour charges. I think I am confident enough to try, as long as I have a guide. (managed to change my crank sensor myself, with big help from this site), so willing to give it a go.

Bottom of page 1 and most of page 2. I'd also suggest that (litterally) for the sake of a couple of quid, you get yourself a pack of four new disc retaining bolts. Whilst your at it a large tub of copperslip and a cheapo Dremmel copy from Machine Mart will make the job a lot quicker / easier.

See the index post at the top of the Maintenence Guides index. One does exist for fronts. Rears are even more starightforward.

If you have access to Vauxhall Trade Club, then front pads are about £13, rears around a tenner. Plus VAT.

Thanks for the quick responses and advice, I will go back and look in the maintenance section of the forum. Did have a look but obviously not hard enough.

Afraid I do not have access to a Vaux Trade Club, but the normal prices are way cheaper than what National and Kwik-Fit want.

If you don't want to get a Trade Club Card (£20 through autobahnstormers) then AndyC a member here can suply parts at trade club prices .. but you have to pay delivery on top .. :)

done my front pads before christmas and have to say wouldn't pay £130  for kwik fit to do them as they really are easy to do....if you car as a wear sensor buy a new one as they always snap  :y

All those kwick fit up tyre exhaust places are feckin vultures praying on the unwary. Avoid.

That's generous.... I wouldn't let them near my car if they paid me ;) ;)

I fitted mine using the brilliant guide,  8-) easy peasy  :y

The rear pads are just as easy, only difference is that the 2 pins holding the pads in are sometimes a bugger to drift out but usualy move after a clout on a pin punch and large sammy. :y

i wouldnt lt quick shit check my tyre pressures they are rip off bast**ds.they use the cheepest parts and charge you max.you can do both ends in under an hour
