Title: Omega 2.6 cooler pipe Post by Del Boy on 20. Jan 2011 at 18:22
Looking at an 03 plate Omega, 2.6 manual, the person says the cooler pipe is disconnected or split and leaking, sorry for the scarce info but I haven't yet seen the car. Any ideas if this could be the case?

Worth a punt for an MV6. Take a looksee try to establish exactly what pipe he`s referring to

That front bumper looks a right mess. I would suspect a split radiator and distortion of the slam panel (but probably no less of a bargain if bought with that knowledge :)) |

I'm glad you mentioned that, it was the first thing to cross my mind. Got to be worth a look anyway :y |

I bumped the spoiler of my 2.5 driving into a carpark off a steeply cambered road. It made a graunching sound and I later found that one of the plastic headers was cracked and leaking next one of the hoses. New rads are about £200 IIRC :( |

its already at the limit of its value, once you consider getting it legal again and fixed. I'd be concerned if the oil cooler had failed (which points to serious maintenance issues) some kind of bodged repair has been done :-/

It's taxed and MOT'd so it's road legal :y £400 is it's limit, I suppose. I think it's worth a punt.

Right more info on this, it's the water pipe at the back of the engine, crows box apparently, whatever that is, in all my years of trading I've never heard that?

Del, is this also the car with supposed fuel pump issues and very little performance? If so, I have an idea what the real problem is... ;)

I think it's be worth a go up to £525 as it runs, apparently.
But it's obviously worth more in parts. As a complete vehicle, I would imagine you wouldn't make much profit. Wheels, split the set so 4 people get a full size spare, recaro interior, ccr 2006, front bumper, xenon's, if you can get the windscreen out I know you'd have a lot of interest as it's the solar refelct one, silver trim, 2.6 manifolds etc. I'd say go for it and forget whatever engine issues it may have, just as long as it'll get you home. |

I think it should be worth a fair profit if I fix it, no need for me to break it, best to keep another miggy going :y

Anyone got any idea on this? Water pipe at the back of the engine, which they apparently can't get too? Is that the pipe that goes into the matrix?

Hope it something like that, I need a proper look but can't get there until Monday, just got to prey that it doesn't sell :-/ I would send my sons to have a look, but they'll miss something I know it.

;D what about where the spare lives? My Elite saloon has a full size 17'' spare (matching road wheel) with the correct tyre which fits fine in the spare wheel well. Admittedly the cover won't fit, but that doesn't bother me. But, the wheel fits and is strapped in. |

Title: Re: Omega 2.6 cooler pipe Post by Del Boy on 21. Jan 2011 at 23:25
I thought pre-facelifts had smaller things so a full size wheel didn't fit, or was I dreaming which seems more plausable :-/

F/L 's have a 15" spare. :-/
Full size fits in estate wheel well, but boot floor then its proud. Well worth the slight inconvenience to be able to change a wheel and carry on without worrying about doing more than 50mph imho. :) |
