Planning on carrying out a little service to the tractor over the next few weeks. What I would ideally like to do is replace/check anything that could affect the MPG im acheiving. Its not too bad tbh but anywhere I can save money is a god send at the moment.

I think it is giving about 200 miles for £30. This is mostly town/50 mph A roads. Maybe this is quite acceptable, but swmbo reckons its juicier than it used to be, and as shes the one who drives it mostly now then who am I to argue.

I have emptied any rubbish etc that was in it so its not carting round unwanted weight (it did have my tools in it for a while)

But what I would like to know is: Apart from changing the oil, oil filter, air and fuel filters what else is there (assuming I have no leaks anywhere which im pretty sure I havent)

Tyre pressures are all where they should be and no wheels are binding.

Seeing as you only get around 5 gallons of derv for £30 I think that you are doing pretty well to get 200 miles,thats around 40 to the gallon :y

Mpg in cold weather will be worse unless doing long journeys. Also is your temperature guage in the middle when warmed up?

Nope, think you have it covered - standard servicing and tyre pressures :y


I assume it starts fine, as dodgy glow plugs might use excessive fuel on start-up for bit.


Also, on those tractors, check the leak-off pipes are secure and not leaking.
